ISO 9001:2000

ISO 9001:2000 is the standard that provides a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system.

In 2004, another significant achievement was attained. Misamis University underwent a voluntary Certification for international standards based on ISO 9001:2000 for all academic programs in its pursuit for quality education. All endeavors and needed resources have been mobilized toward this achievement.

ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System certification enables Misamis University to demonstrate its commitment to service quality and customer satisfaction, as well as continuously improving its quality management systems and integrating the realities of a changing world.

ISO 9001:2000 is based on eight quality management principles:

Det Norske Veritas (DNV)

DNV is a Norwegian company established in 1864. DNV is an independent foundation whose objectives are "Safeguarding life, property, and the environment" and is a leading provider of services for managing risk.

On April 28, 2005, DNV granted Misamis University a Management System Certificate No. 2373-2005-AQ-SIN-RVA. DNV-The Netherlands, through its DNV Regional Office in Singapore, a certification of Misamis University's conformance to the quality management system as set forth by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Commission on Higher Education (CHED)

The year 2003 for Misamis University was highlighted with CHED granting DEREGULATED STATUS through Resolution No. 393-2003. Benefits include the exemption of the university from the issuance of Special Order, freedom from monitoring and evaluation activities of the CHED, entitlement to the grant subsidies and other financial incentives or assistance from the CHED whenever funds are available; and the privilege to determine and prescribe their curricular programs to achieve global competence.

The three (3) general criteria for selection and identification of private higher education institutions which shall receive autonomy and deregulated status from the Commission on Higher Education are:

Institutional Quality Assurance Monitoring and Evaluation (IQuAME) Certification with an A-Category

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) established a mechanism for monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes of the programs, processes, and services of Higher Education Institutions in the key area of quality of teaching and learning as supported by governance and management; support for students; relations with the community; and management of resources.

The IQuAME shall have the following objectives:

Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities — Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA)

As an internal policy of PACU, accreditation provided the stimulus for the growth of the nucleus of accreditation in its member schools. Consequently, the publication of the first PACU Handbook of Rules and Standards of Approval and Accreditation of Private Schools and Universities followed, with the end in view of guiding member schools of PACU in achieving excellence through self-evaluation of their educational programs in light if their philosophy and objectives.

The Bachelor of Arts Programs and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical garnered the seal of excellence and distinction with the grant of Level II Accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). This seal of excellence acknowledges Misamis University's Programs as among the most credible and the best in the country.

Likewise, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Science in Home Economics program was granted Level I accreditation by the same accrediting body, the PACUCOA.
