WalangPasok on May 1, 2026, in celebration of Labor Day
Labor Day in the Philippines has its roots in May 1, 1903, when over 100,000 workers, led by the Union Obrera Democratica de Filipinas, marched to Malacañang Palace. They called for improved wages and better working conditions under the American colonial government. This historic demonstration marked the start of the country’s labor movement. In 1908, the Philippine Assembly officially declared May 1 a national holiday.
Today, Labor Day continues to honor the hard work, dedication, and contributions of Filipino workers nationwide.
